Blog 2: Topic Proposal

My topic is going to be on Wildcat Service Dogs, also known as WSD. I believe this would be a good topic to do because I enjoy being around dogs, I'm looking into the organization and thinking about joining them, and also because I would like to know some of the problems they come across in the process of trying to take care of dogs and training them for others in the future, but what hurdles they have to avoid and work around in order to still do their duty as WSD. What exactly is it that makes the Wildcat Service Dogs a community is the friendship bonds between all of them because of their love and compassion to help dogs and people by providing a trained service dog. This bond is what ties them together and makes the not only dog loving friends, but a dog oriented family. I already know the process to get into the Wildcat Service Dog and I know that they train dogs and then submit them to a more advanced company to finish their training. What else would I like to know about them is the problems they run into in their prices of training a dog, problems with financials(if any), and why it is they chose to do what they do. My relationship to this community is that I am looking into joining them, so I would like to learn all that I can about them, and if I can, become a major influence and runner of this community. I have chosen this community because of my love for dogs. I have six dogs total back at home and it would help me feel more at home and relaxed. I have always had a soft spot for any breed of dogs. Dogs are what I really enjoy working with and around because they are so obedient and well behaved if trained right from the start. My love for dogs is like my love for the University of Kentucky, running on and on no matter what and unstoppable. The Wildcat Service Dogs have interested me since I first found out about them and I'm glad that I did find out about them. and that is my community form documentary.

Blog 1: Community and Myself

Hello,
My name is Steven Murphy and I am from Bardstown, Ky. Bardstown is just your average small-town; except for the fact that it's been voted "Most Beautiful Small-Town" for the past couple years now. I am a first generation student, so I am a bit nervous about the new, and much bigger, environment. I don't talk much unless we're friends or we've talked before. I do get very stressed easily and I'll lose my thoughts, which usually puts me behind on my homework and studying. This reason is why I tend to struggle with school. I have a rough background an past. I started off being the only child and living in a 3 bedroom house with only one bath. We usually didn't have much food or get to spend time together as a family. Over time, we got on our feet right around the time my first little brother came along. Removed to the outskirts of Bardstown, Cox's Creek area, and we got a bigger house and then followed my other little brother eleven months after my first little brother. A couple years after my brothers started growing up, my mom quit her job working at a bank and couldn't get a job. We eventually lost the house that we were in. So we had no choice, but to move into my grandparents house in Boston, Ky, about 15 minutes outside of Bardstown. I do know that my parents did all they could to provide for us, but it just wasn't enough. When I got out of middle school and started Freshman year in high school, Mom got another new job and had become a manager for the company right away. Right around my Sophomore year, my dad quit his job and started his own janitorial business for bigger buisnesses. That is why I believe I chose to go to college because I want to prevent my future family from having to go through what I have gone through in life. I had no choice but to grow up quickly so I could help out around the house and I want my kids to enjoy their childhood while they have it. I am going to college for the sake of my future and so I can pay my parents back with something of their own after all the trouble and stuff that they have gone through for me and my little brothers, just to make sure that we could get by and live. My major is currently listed as undergraduate studies, but I am going to be going to Pharmacy school within 3 years, at the moment, but am looking into knocking that down so I can do the 2 year plan and get into Pharmacy school early.
A community that I would include myself in most in athletics or basketball to be more specific. When I play basketball, I feel free as ever and like no one can stop me or catch me. I feel like I can be myself and not worry about others and what they think because basketball has many different playing styles. I get onto any basketball and that's how I express myself and calm myself when I'm stressed. Not just basketball, sports period. Sports make me who I am today. Basketball is just my number one go to.
